ParentCamp is looking for a Social Media/Marketing Intern

If you have participated in #ParentCampChat over the past 16 weeks, you quickly realize it is growing like crazy!  So much so that we need some help managing it.  We are looking for either a high school or college social media/marketing intern who would have 2-3 hours a week to assist us.  Unfortunately, since we are a start-up non-profit, we can’t offer any payment, but we can offer a ton of experience, especially in how to run and grow a Twitter chat and the opportunity to work with leaders in their fields.  We are great mentors and very well connected too!

  • Initial Duties:
    • Log Twitter users reached during each chat – Excel experience required
    • Follow new Twitter users reached and others who may be interested in the chat
    • Schedule reminder tweets tagging individuals (we have 500+ people who we tag), familiarity with Tweetdeck is helpful
    • Participate and help monitor the chat, interacting with participants
      • Welcoming them to the chat
      • Liking chat tweets
      • Retweeting chat tweets when appropriate
  • Advanced Duties as the Initial Duties are at a good comfort level:
    • Generate chat ideas and reach out to potential guests, scheduling them for future dates
    • Create graphics for each chat
    • Schedule chat graphics
    • Set-up event on ParentCamp Facebook page
    • Share chat to various Family-School-Community engagement Facebook groups
    • Share chat to various Family-School-Community engagement LinkedIn groups
    • Write weekly follow-up summary and preview of the next chat, posting it to the ParentCamp blog and sending out in the ParentCamp news blast

This is a virtual position, it can be completed anywhere.  As you get into a grove and future chats topics/guests are booked, it is possible to work ahead of the chats each week so the time spent could very easily work within your schedule.  You will need a computer or laptop and dual screens are VERY helpful.  Twitter experience is required.  We use Zoom for virtual meetings and the Voxer app to stay in touch with each other daily.

As we grow ParentCamp, we would love to grow this into a paid part-time position, but unfortunately, we can’t make that promise at this time.  Just so there are no surprises, a Non-disclosure/Confidentiality and Non-Complete agreement will be required before training begins.
